Description

Identify bacterial isolates through molecular sequence analysis with Dextrose Technologies Pvt. Ltd. Our microbial identification service uses 16S rDNA sequencing and phylogenetic analysis to establish the closest sequence-based identity of a submitted pure bacterial culture. The 16S rRNA gene contains conserved and variable regions that support comparison between bacterial isolates and reference sequences. This approach helps researchers characterise cultured bacteria and understand their relationship to closely related organisms. Service Overview The submitted bacterial isolate undergoes molecular identification based on its 16S rDNA sequence. The resulting sequence is compared with reference sequences, and phylogenetic analysis illustrates its relationship to selected nearest neighbours. Results support identification at the taxonomic level justified by sequence quality, reference coverage, and the ability of the marker to distinguish related organisms. Applications • Identification of bacterial isolates obtained during research. • Characterisation of environmental, soil, water, and food-associated bacterial cultures. • Sequence-based confirmation of bacterial culture identity. • Preliminary characterisation of candidate probiotic and industrial bacterial isolates. • Phylogenetic comparison with closely related reference organisms. • Support for dissertation, PhD, microbiology, and biotechnology projects. Sample Requirements • Sample type: Pure bacterial culture. • Accepted formats: Culture plate, agar slant, or broth culture. • Submit each isolate separately with a clear sample identifier. Submission Information Provide the sample source, available organism information, growth medium, incubation conditions, and study objective. Clearly indicate whether the isolate is known or unidentified. Culture purity is important for obtaining interpretable sequencing results. Mixed cultures may produce overlapping sequence signals and require further isolation before identification. Discuss sample suitability and transport arrangements with our team before dispatch. Deliverables • 16S rDNA-based molecular identification. • Approximately 1,500 bp aligned sequence data, as specified in the service catalogue and subject to successful sequence recovery. • Phylogenetic tree showing the relationship to selected reference organisms. • Information on 10 nearest-neighbour reference matches. • Sequencing reads with Q20 read length of up to 800 bases, subject to sample and sequence quality. • Chromatogram output in ABI/AB1 format. • Sequence data in FASTA format. • Results in PDF format. The approximately 1,500 bp aligned sequence represents the combined sequence output where successfully recovered; the stated read length of up to 800 bases applies to individual sequencing reads. Interpretation Closely related bacterial species may share highly similar 16S sequences. Species-level identification is therefore not guaranteed for every isolate. Sequence similarity and phylogenetic placement should be interpreted together with available culture information. Turnaround Time 3–4 days, as listed in our service catalogue. Service Coverage Based in Bengaluru, we support researchers and organisations across India, including Kochi, Kolkata, Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, and Chennai. Contact Us Dextrose Technologies Pvt. Ltd.
