Description

Explore microbial community composition with Dextrose Technologies Pvt. Ltd. Our targeted metagenomic sequencing service uses selected genetic markers to generate sequencing data for bacterial or fungal community profiling. The 16S rRNA gene V3–V4 region supports bacterial community studies, while the Internal Transcribed Spacer (ITS) region supports fungal community studies. Select the appropriate marker based on your sample type and research objectives. Service Overview The selected marker region is amplified from sample DNA, followed by sequencing library preparation with Illumina adapters and paired-end sequencing. Our catalogue specifies 2 × 300 bp paired-end sequencing using Illumina MiSeq, with a minimum output of 0.1 million reads per library, counted as R1 + R2. The V3–V4 and ITS workflows target different microbial groups. If both bacterial and fungal profiling are required, discuss separate marker libraries and the project scope before submission. Applications • Gut and other host-associated microbiome research. • Soil and agricultural microbial community studies. • Water and environmental microbiome investigations. • Food-associated bacterial and fungal community profiling. • Comparison of microbial communities across treatments or sampling locations. • Academic, dissertation, PhD, and industrial biotechnology projects. Sample Requirements • Sample type: Extracted microbial community DNA suitable for the selected amplicon workflow. • Confirm DNA quantity, concentration, submission volume, and quality criteria with our team before dispatch. • Specify the required target: 16S V3–V4 or fungal ITS. • For ITS projects, confirm the selected ITS region and primer coverage during project planning. Submission Information Clearly label each sample and provide sample identifiers, sample source, DNA extraction method, available quality assessment results, and research objectives. For comparative studies, include group allocation, biological replicate information, and relevant metadata. Discuss samples containing potential PCR inhibitors, such as soil-derived contaminants, before submission. Sequencing Deliverables • Target-region amplification for the selected V3–V4 or ITS workflow. • Sequencing library preparation with Illumina adapters. • 2 × 300 bp paired-end sequencing using Illumina MiSeq. • Minimum 0.1 million reads per library, counted as R1 + R2. The stated output represents 100,000 individual reads across R1 and R2, rather than 100,000 read pairs. Additional Bioinformatics Analysis The catalogue lists bioinformatics analysis separately. Depending on the selected package, this includes: • OTU assignment and taxonomic classification. • Microbial abundance profiling. • Alpha and beta diversity analysis. • Rarefaction curves, stacked abundance plots, heatmaps, and PCoA plots. An additional package lists functional pathway and gene-family analysis. Where appropriate, amplicon-based functional predictions should be reported as inferred potential; suitability depends on the marker and reference coverage. Taxonomic resolution depends on primer coverage, sequence quality, and reference databases. Species-level identification is not guaranteed. Turnaround Time Sequencing: 3–4 weeks. Bioinformatics analysis: Enquire for the applicable timeline. Service Coverage Based in Bengaluru, we support projects across India, including Kochi, Kolkata, Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, and Chennai.
